Tafwyl Fair

There are loads of different activities for learners at this year’s Tafwyl Festival, at the Tafwyl Fair on the 15th of June, as well as during Tafwyl Week, from the 14th-21st of June.

During Tafwyl Fair, on the 15th of June, the Welsh for Adults Centre Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan will be coordinating a full day of activities in their Welsh Learners tent.

Welsh for Adults Raises over a £100 for Macmillan

Many of the Welsh for Adults Cardiff and the Vale staff were very busy last week, baking cakes to sell in the John Percival Building’s canteen at Cardiff University to raise money for the charity, MacMillan Cancer Support.

After creating a lovely stall and selling loads of tasty cakes, the Welsh for Adults Centre raised over £100 for the charity. Ffion Owen, the Receptionist and the Director’s Personal Assistant, who spent her whole lunch hour selling the cakes said:
“It’s a pleasure to be able to bake nice cakes and then sell them for such a good cause”.

Saturday Course, Urdd Centre - 20 April

Come along to the Saturday Course in the Urdd Centre, Cardiff Bay. There will be time to revise what you have learnt in the class-room and time to do an activity (Quiz, tresasure hunt around the bay, activities with your children). This is an opportunity for you to enjoy the activities, practise your Welsh, share experiences and make new friends so why not come along?

Bring your food or there are plenty of places to buy food in Cardiff Bay.

Learners of all levels welcome!

Welsh for the Family Weekend in Llangrannog

We had wonderful weather in Llangrannog this year with a number of families enjoying themselves in the sunshine. Hein, Sali Mali, Fireman Sam and Holi Hana all came to visit us. The parents worked hard in their classes while the children were kept busy on the ski slope, pony trekking, practising archery, climbing on the new wall and ropes, and bouncing on the trampoline. There was an opportunity to take part in the activities as a family in the afternoon and also arts, signing and story sessions.

The Welsh for Adults Centre in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan has co-ordinated an exciting event: BIG MARCH!.

The event, which will run for one month, is to highlight all the activities and associations Welsh medium available to learners in the Cardiff area.

The full schedule of events is diverse, with at least one activity taking place every day throughout March!

At present we have the pleasure of hosting two Welsh for Adults Tutors from Y Wladfa, Patagonia to the Centre. Both Liliana Melnik from the Andes and Patricia Ramos from Dyffryn Camwy teach classes in Argentina and have come here to observe experienced tutors and improve their own teaching skills.
