Celebrating 40 years of the Summer Course!

Monday, 3 August, 2015

The Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Welsh for Adults Centre have been celebrating 40 years of their Welsh Summer Course this year!
Here's about of history about the course. After the first ever Wlpan Welsh course was introduced in 1974, an experimental 4 week block intensive course was held in Lampeter, Ceredigion in the summer of 1975 and in 1976. This course developed into an 8 week course. The course then moved to Cardiff University in 2004.

Over the years we have included more levels and options to the summer courses but three years ago, for the first time ever, it was possible to study for 2,4, 6 or 8 weeks with new attractive pricing structures. As a result of this and because we have improved and developed the course over the years, more than 100 people have attended our summer course every year for the last 2 years.
To this day the Summer Course remains the only truly intensive course of its type in the Welsh language. The summer course is a unique opportunity to be immersed in the Welsh language and a great place to make new friends and acquaintances.
Hundreds of people from North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and all over Wales and the world have successfully learnt Welsh on our summer courses over the years - why not join the 2016 Summer Course!?
