Do I have to sit an exam?

It’s up to you. The WJEC offer exams for Welsh learners which we hold in the Centre, however it’s entirely up to you if you want to do the exam or not. Revision courses are available to help you prepare for an exam.

Is there any homework?

Yes, there is some homework. This helps you to revise and check your understanding between classes.

How big are the classes?

The class sizes vary from 8 to 16.

Do you have courses in my area?

We offer classes all around Cardiff. Contact us on 02920 874710 or info@learnwelsh.co.uk or complete a course search on learnwelsh.cymru to find the course nearest to you.

If I find that the course is not suitable, will I be able to claim my money back?

If you feel, having enrolled and paid for a course, that the course is unsuitable or if you are no longer able to attend the course for valid reasons, we will refund you the full cost of the course if you decide to leave before the end of the first two weeks of the course. No refund will be given if you decide to leave a course after the first two weeks of it commencing. If you’re paying in instalments you will still be paying for the whole year and will not be able to cancel the recurring payment after the first two weeks of it commencing. Where there are special circumstances, any refund would be granted at the Centre’s discretion.

A claim must be made to receive a refund, and they are only given under special circumstances. A refund cannot be given if the course has run for two weeks. Please note that a refund can take up to 6 weeks to be processed. If you wish to cancel your registration you must advise us by letter or e-mail, giving us at least 24 hours notice. If we have not received a letter from you, or if you have given less than 24 hours notice, the course fee must be paid in full. A standard £10 administrative fee will be charged on every occasion.

How do I pay for my course?

It's possible to pay for your course online, through the website learnwelsh.cymru

Is it possible to learn Intermediate, Advanced levels etc on a faster pace as well?

Yes, twice or more a week courses are available on all levels. As with Entry, the more time you can committ to learning every week, the faster you will learn.

When do you offer the Taster Courses?

The Taster Courses run many times throughout the year, in different locations around Cardiff. They usually run just before an Entry course starts.

There are different courses to choose from on every level – how do I choose the best one for me?

The first question to ask yourself is how many hours you can commit to learning every week. The more you can commit, the better, because you will get fluent in a much shorter period of time. On every level you have an option to study once a week (usually 2 hours) and then some faster options which mean attending a class twice a week, four times a week or block courses which are courses held between 9.30 and 4.30 every day for a fortnight. There's also a blended course available which means that you're able to attend a class once a week and study the rest of the course online in the comfort of your own home. There are lots of options for you and you're very welcome to contact us in the Centre on 029 20 874 710 if you would like to discuss them further.
